IUSSP Nomination Committee

At each General Assembly, there shall be elected a Committee on Nominations, consisting of seven members, all belonging to different nationalities. The Committee elects its own Chairman. No member of the Council shall be a member of the Committee on Nominations; this disqualification does not apply to the Honorary Presidents. The Committee shall continue in office until the following General Assembly (art 11 §2 of the Constitution).

The Committee on Nominations meets to prepare a list of candidates for election as Honorary President, Officers and Council. In preparing this list, the Committee shall consult with the President and the Vice-President of the Union. The list must include at least two candidates for each one of the Officer positions open for election – Vice-President and Secretary General – and at least 50 per cent more candidates for the Council than the number of Council members to be elected.

This list is then sent to all members of the Union. In addition to the list of candidates nominated for election in the above-described manner, members of the Union are invited to make alternative nominations if they so wish. Each such nomination must be accompanied by the signatures of at least 15 members of at least 5 different nationalities.
