The Linnaeus Centre on Social Policy and Family Dynamics in Europe announces two two-year positions for researchers in an early stage of their academic career.

The Linnaeus Centre on Social Policy and Family Dynamics in Europe is a research program financed for 2008-2018 by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). The Centre brings together expertise in policy studies and demography from SUDA, the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) and the Department of Human Geography and collaborates with scholars from throughout Europe. The overarching goal is to produce the best evidence for social policy effects on fertility and family change and to communicate this evidence to policy makers and the public.

It aims to retain and enhance the university's position as the leading Australian research and training institution for demography and social research, recognised both nationally and internationally for its work.
ADSRI is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Fellow to undertake demographic research on a project funded by the ARC/NHMRC concerned with the analysis of pooled data from nine longitudinal studies of ageing to investigate and model health and well-being in later life. Duties involve extracting statistical data from a large dataset, complex longitudinal and demographic analyses, preparing data for modelling, and writing journal articles and technical documents. Research areas include mortality and longevity, healthy life expectancy, partnering and kinship dynamics and living arrangements, and may be related to the health themes of the project, which encompass disabilities, mental health and cognitive decline.

The International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC) is making every woman’s right to a just and healthy life a global reality. IWHC shapes international policy and builds local capacity for women’s health and human rights in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We leverage our work in these two very different, but critically linked worlds – to change thinking, redirect funding and motivate action by people and institutions that can secure rights and health for women. This requires a strategy in which:
We advocate and motivate social, political and corporate leaders to enact policies and provide funding for women’s rights and health;
We provide grants and forge professional partnerships with local leaders as they build organizations to secure women’s rights and health, primarily in Africa, Asia and Latin America;
We mobilize women and young people, enabling them to take action to secure their rights, health and well-being; and
We analyze and communicate facts and path-breaking ideas for policy improvement to powerbrokers, health professionals, influentials and other advocates.
