The UN has recently issued a call for applications to National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE), which includes Demography among the job categories included . Candidates should not be older than 32 years by the end of this year, have at least a first-level university degree, be fluent in either English and/or French.

Project/Proposal Summary:
Regional Development Research Partnership Program (RDRP) aims to assist the USAID missions in the Middle East and North Africa and local research communities in developing stronger communications and flows of information between USAID and diverse intellectual communities working on development issues in the region. The goal of the program is to support the development and dissemination of regional research, evaluations, and analyses that support USAID and other regional stakeholders and promote the improved efficiency and effectiveness of development programming in the MENA region. Focus areas include research in youth, democracy and governance, and management of natural resources. The project and staff will be based in Cairo, Egypt.
Position Summary:
The Knowledge Management and Communications Director will be responsible for assessing, designing and implementing an overall knowledge management strategy, including dissemination activities, databases, and web-portal for knowledge sharing. The KM/Communication Director will be responsible for developing creative methods to disseminate information for the projects’ stakeholders on a timely and effective manner.

The Gender and Population specialist will collaborate on policy-and program-relevant research examining the impact of fertility declines and contraceptive access on women’s empowerment and gender relations in developing countries, and contribute to the continued development and strengthening of an ICRW network of experts on gender and population. The incumbent will also provide technical and managerial expertise in research and programming to projects focusing on other gender and development issues (e.g., economic empowerment, reproductive health, gender-based violence) as needed.

Due to strategic growth, ICRW currently seeks a Director, Population and Reproductive Health.
The Director, Population and Reproductive Health will serve as ICRW’s Portfolio Manager for the Population and Reproductive Health portfolio, acting as principal technical lead, fundraiser and spokesperson on this defined thematic area of work. The incumbent will build and manage a coherent and cogent portfolio of work, assuring appropriate breadth and depth of scope, inter-disciplinary dimensions when appropriate, and quality on all aspects of the work, e.g. research design, deliverables. S/he will provide timely and relevant technical support and strategic advice to a range of clients, i.e., ICRW staff, donors, partners, governments and so on. As Portfolio Manager, the Director will develop and execute a business development strategy for the portfolio, assuring a well managed pipeline and diversified funding base. Travel of approximately 25% will be required.

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP
Demography and Population Studies Programme University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Fogarty International Centre, USA, is funding postdoctoral fellowships in the Wits Demography and Population Studies Programme through a collaboration with the University of Colorado and the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC), Nairobi. The fellowships foster transition from a PhD to a professional, research or academic position in Africa. Fellowships will be awarded for one year, renewable for a second year subject to performance. Their value is US$30,000 per annum which includes a generous monthly stipend. Additional funds are available for conference travel and research.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship

ICRW is offering a post-doctoral fellowship for a social scientist with gender and population
expertise at its Washington, DC office. This fellowship is geared toward early career Ph.D.
professionals who would like to conduct research within an action research organization and
network with a wide range of experts on gender, population and development.
The fellow will work directly with the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Impact and
other DC-based research staff at ICRW who focus on international gender and population issues, as
well as with experts in this area from other organizations and academic institutions. The fellow will
make substantive contributions to a research project examining the impact of fertility decline on
women's empowerment in developing countries and participate in ICRW’s program and policyoriented
research on adolescents.

Director for the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI)

The NIDI is a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) engaged in the scientific study of population (demography). Its offices are located in the centre of The Hague. The institute has a staff of approximately 50 employees, most of whom researchers. The NIDI consists of two research departments: the Social Demography Department (SoDem) and the Projections, Migration and Health Department (PMH). Much of the institute’s funding comes from project financing. In addition, the institute has various management support units that are supervised by the deputy director.
