Financial Assistance

If you submit a paper or poster abstract, you should do so with the understanding that you plan to attend the XXV International Population Conference in Tours, France, and that you will be able to cover your own travel and per diem costs. While the IUSSP and the NOC may be able to provide travel awards to some programme participants, priority for these awards will be given to programme participants from low-income countries. In this era of tight funding for scientific population activities, it is unfortunately no longer possible for the IUSSP to provide travel awards to participants from high-income countries.

The IUSSP and the French National Organising Committee are seeking funding that will enable them to provide some travel assistance to scholars from developing countries and junior demographers. All participants are encouraged to seek, as soon as feasible, financial support from their own institutions, other national bodies, local representatives of international donors, international institutions and foundations active in the population field. If a formal letter of invitation is needed to secure travel funding, you can email a request for such a letter to france2005@iussp.org.
