IUSSP Travel Grants for Junior Demographers

The Junior Demographer Travel Grants provide an opportunity for young demographers to attend IUSSP seminars and meet leading specialists in the field. For some seminars, a Call for a Junior Demographer is disseminated to IUSSP members by email and posted on the IUSSP website in the Announcements page.

Conditions of eligibility

  • Candidates are expected to be a recent recipient (within 5 years) of an advanced degree in a subject related to population.
  • All applicants for the junior demographer award should be IUSSP members (non-members wishing to apply can apply for membership online).
  • Each candidate for the award must be sponsored by two academic references. To avoid the appearance of conflict of interest, the references should not be members of the Scientific Panel organizing the meeting.
  • In the case of equal qualifications, preference will be given to a candidate from a developing country.
