The Collen Programme on Fertility, Education and The Environment

Grade 8: Salary in the range £37,382 to £44,607 p.a.

 The Oxford Institute of Population Ageing is seeking a quantitative researcher to work with Dr George Leeson in collaboration with Professor Sarah Harper on the Collen Programme on Fertility, Education and the Environment.  Main responsibilities will be to undertake research on the fertility transition in developing countries, with particular emphasis on Africa.  As part of the scientific team, the incumbent will be asked to contribute to research tasks related to demographic and statistical analysis.  This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a world-leading research programme in the impact of fertility on population change.

 

The successful candidate will work within this multi-disciplinary Research Programme to undertake analyses of the development of fertility and the underlying causes, as well as model scenarios for future developments.

 

Experience in the demography of developing countries is essential and knowledge of the demography of Africa, Asia or Latin America is desirable. Graduate degree at Doctoral level in demography is also required, as is a publication record, demonstrated achievement in participation in research projects, experience in the dissemination of research and ability to communicate effectively as well as to work independently.

 

The post is full-time, on a fixed-term contract, commencing 1 October 2013 for 4.5 years (with possibility for extension).
