Professional Summary:

Dr. Chander Shekhar is a full Professor at the International Institute for Population Sciences, India. His research areas are Fertility, Family Planning, Abortion, Reproductive and Child Health, Sex Ratio, Survival Analysis, Population Policies and Programmes, Ageing  and Tribal Health. Previously he has worked at the Departments of Mathematical Demography & Statistics and Population Policies and Programmes of the Institute. Besides large-scale survey, his core strength is to develop and apply accurate measures and methods in demography and health. Dr. Shekhar is one of Co-PIs for Unintended Pregnancy and Abortion Incidence in India Study. He has been a PI of the District Level Household Survey(DLHS),2007-08,2011-13, and DHS(NFHS-4),2015-16. He has published 75 research papers in international, national peer-reviewed journals and edited books. He has supervised five PhDs and completed 18 research projects as a PI funded by UNDP,UNFPA,DFID, Population Council,WHO,National Commissions on Population, Govt.of India He has made academic visits to USA,UK,Sweden, Japan, South Korea,China,Malta,Malaysia, Thailand,Indonesia,Ethiopia,and Nepal.
