Workshop on (New-ish) Methods and Data for Exploring Group Inequalities

University of Bath (UK)

19 – 20 October 2017

New statistical techniques and secondary data for analyzing group inequalities constantly develop, posing opportunities as well as challenges for quantitative researchers. This workshop, hosted as part of the ERC-funded NEWFAMSTRAT research project, invites abstracts of papers from researchers at all career stages that explore group employment or economic inequalities using any of the following: Unconditional quantile regression, linked employee-employer panel data, or audit or correspondence employer studies. Keynotes by experts on new developments relating to these methods will also be featured.

Each accepted presentation will be allotted a 30-minute time slot with no parallel sessions, ensuring engaged feedback from participants. The workshop will be held at The Edge, University of Bath Campus. A modest fee (£40) will be charged to cover breaks and lunches.

To be considered for attendance, please submit a 350-word abstract of the paper, including the research question, its theoretical motivation, research design (including data and analytical technique), and any preliminary findings to Prof Lynn Prince Cooke at l.p.cooke@bath.ac.uk no later than 15 May 2017. No more than 20 abstracts will be accepted.

The closest airport is Bristol, although there are good ground transportation links with Heathrow. Bath is a popular Georgian town, with a range of accommodation options, including a very good YMCA. See VisitBath.co.uk for more information.
