The ageing of the baby boomers poses major challenges to Germany's labour supply and social security systems. Increasing labour force participation at older ages is seen as an important means of meeting these challenges. But how has labour force participation at older ages developed over the past decades according to gender, education and occupational qualification? What contributes to differences? What current trends are discernible?
