Unconventional Data Sources for Population Studies: Opportunities and Challenges

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
REGISTRATION

As our world becomes increasingly digitalized, mobile, and interconnected, demographers have started looking at alternative data sources to supplement or replace traditional methods such as censuses, surveys, and vital registration data. Various trends are contributing to the reshaping of demographic data. These trends include the widespread availability of cell phone coverage, the expansion of the internet and social networks, the emergence of artificial intelligence, the development of crowd-sourced data, and the growth of computational power. These trends create new opportunities to study populations in unique and innovative ways. However, they also raise concerns regarding issues such as biases, representativeness, informed consent, and data quality.

This seminar will bring together professionals from the discipline to explore the promises and pitfalls of using unconventional data in population studies.

Please join us for this exciting scientific conference.

To facilitate the organisation, we ask you to fill in the registration form by 10 October.
